SUNDAY HIGHLIGHTS
“IMMERSE”
The Point: Sunday will introduce the overall theme for the week: Just as our bodies are nourished by water from the ground, so too does the living water of Jesus Christ nourish our souls.
Key Passage: John 4:4-15
MONDAY HIGHLIGHTS
“TESTING THE WATERS”
The Point: Before we jump into any body of water, we want to know what to expect. We stick a toe in to find out if the water is hot or cold. Is it deep or shallow? We want to know what we’re getting ourselves into. It can feel the same way the first time we hear the amazing promises offered by Jesus Christ. What is this living water? Can it really fulfill our thirst? By looking to God, we can begin to answer those questions and enjoy the experience of our life in Christ.
Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7
TUESDAY HIGHLIGHTS
“DIVING IN”
The Point: Once we begin to accept that Jesus is the living water that will nourish our lives, we have to begin living a way that demonstrates our trust in God. We have to get out of the boat and dive into our life with faith that Christ will not let us sink!
Scripture: Matthew 14:22-33
WEDNESDAY HIGHLIGHTS
“COMING UP FOR AIR”
The Point: When someone dives into the water, eventually they have to come up for air if they want to continue swimming. Our faith journey is similar. We have to be sure that we take the steps necessary to sustain our faith journey over the course of our life on earth.
Scripture: John 1:10-18
THURSDAY HIGHLIGHTS
“MAKING A SPLASH”
The Point: When we dive into a pool or lake, we make a splash. When we dive into our faith, we should make a splash as well, and others should feel the living water of Christ in their lives through ours.
Scripture: Isaiah 55:10-11
FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS
“THE LIVING WATER”
The Point: In baptism, we receive the Living Water as a gift from God. Baptism is a one-time event, but a repeated decision to live for Christ continually.
Scripture: Matthew 3:13-17
